John R. Salvino
John Salvino, commercial real estate specialist, believes in working hard and working smart. Spending most of his life in Lawrence and having 20-plus years in commercial real estate, including property management and investing, John has honed his skills as a commercial real estate expert.
After graduating from the University of Kansas with a business degree in 1992, John saw his first opportunities near the campus of his alma mater. He began purchasing houses close to KU in 1996. Two years later, he purchased a management business and became president of Midwest Property Management (where to this day he heads a team overseeing both residential and commercial real estate in the midwest).
The following decade saw John growing his real estate portfolio as a private investor — and also successfully cultivating outside investors. He was responsible for acquisition, management and disposition of multi-family assets in properties throughout the Midwest. He gained hands-on experience taking distressed, mismanaged and undervalued properties, then effectively boosting their net operating income and value. He has been a part of investing and managing of more than $100 million in assets across 8 states.
Recently, John has shifted asset classes and has purchased and remodeled office space in Lawrence, KS. His two recent projects include repositioning of more than 60,000 feet of office space on the West side of Lawrence.
John became a Certified Property Manager through the Institute of Real Estate Management in 2004. He also holds his Kansas real estate license.
John is married and raising three kids in Lawrence. A lifelong Kansas resident John enjoys splitting time between Lawrence and Colorado where he enjoys mountain biking, hiking, skiing, and fly fishing.
